Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Entebbe to Bwindi forest National Park
After the morning breakfast, you will be picked by our professional guide from your hotel and set off for Bwindi. Bwindi is located in the southwestern parts of Uganda in Kabale district which is an 8 to 9 hours’ drive. The journey may seem long but all this feeling will be washed by the exciting scenic views of the countryside, the lush vegetation on the roadside. You will have a brief stopover at the equator and have a picture moment and then proceed to Lyantonde where you will have a lunch break. You will then proceed to Kabale through Mbarara city and during this journey you can choose to take a nap and rest on this rather long journey. After this long drive, you will arrive at the Bwindi impenetrable forest in the evening hours. Check-in at the lodge, have dinner, and spend the night there in the park.
Day 2: Gorilla Tracking
You will start your day with a morning breakfast, you will then drive to the park headquarters where you will meet the rest of the guests to be briefed and given Gorilla families to track by the park rangers on the guidelines for Gorilla tracking. At around 8am, you will set off to the forest tracking the habituated mountain Gorillas. This exercise will take you 2 to 4 hours or sometimes much more time because the Gorillas keep moving and you can’t tell when you reach them. The good news is that you will finally meet them and be allowed a full-hour encounter with them as you study their behavior and taking memorable pictures of the Gorillas. After this blissful moment of a face-to-face encounter with the Gorillas, you will return to the starting point where you will be given a tracking certificate as a sign of appreciation for participating in the conservation of these endangered apes. You will then meet your driver and transfer back to the hotel for a rest. If time allows, you will have a community visit to interact with the locals to know the life of the locals. A visit to the community will take you to the Batwa who are sometimes referred to as the forest people because they shared habitat with the gorillas many years back before they were evicted from the forest. You will learn about their lives including the use of herbs for medicine and their hunting skills.
Day 3: Return to Kampala
You will start with a morning breakfast at the lodge and set off for Kampala. The journey starts at around 8am through Kabale town and stops in Mbarara town at Igongo cultural center for a cultural excursion. You will enjoy cultural performances before proceeding to Kampala.
