KENNETH TUMUSIIME

(Senior Bird Guide Specialist & Travel Consultant Expert for East Africa/Nature Photographer)

Kenneth was born and grew up in Buliisa a remote dry cattle corridor which is near Lake Albert, Murchison Falls National Park and Budongo forest. He studied his primary school at Kisansya, Bugungu Senior Secondary school, Harvard College and Masindi Academy for advanced level and moved to Kampala city for his university education where he studied Tourism Management. He was born in the family of 5 with four sisters and he is the only boy and the last born. His carrier started way back in 2000 when he could join Lion Project Team in Murchison Falls National Park led by Dr Sifert during school holidays. Sifert Inspired him and his carrier become fully achieved in 2008 when he joined Murchison Falls National Park and started working as a trainee site Guide, after sometimes his ability to lead and excellent guiding skills earned him a promotion and he was promoted to head Department of Training & Guiding. Kenneth later moved to Kampala and started working with different Travel companies as freelance Guide, He is a passionate Traveller he leads and Guide Birding trips to Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda. Kenneth as an experienced guide his experience and Qualification in this field has earned him an achievement, He has attended various trainings in Advance trauma (First Aid), Defensive driving, Nature Guiding, Customer Care & Client handling, Birding, He is a member of Uganda Bird Guides Club. He has attended various professional and special courses in, Digital marketing, International advanced certificate of expertise in Tourism & Wildlife Conservation.

He is the founder and CEO of Save Shoebill Conservation Project (SSCP) https://saveshoebill.org he work tirelessly to conserve the wild creature and wild spaces of his beloved Uganda. Recognising pressure being put on the local shoebill and all other wader birds’ population a community centric project that depends on engagement with human habitants of the area for its success. Kenneth’s language ability includes excellent English command, Swahili, a little French which makes him a well ranked and popular choice of a guide on our safari he also speak more than different 20 local languages,

 

WILDFRED KIZIGE ‘Known as Wilfred the birder’ (Driver Guide)

African Birding JourneysWilfred was born on May 28 1978 in Buliisa District. He began his primary education in Kisiabi primary school then to Vienna high school in Masindi. He joined Tourism in 2008 in Murchison Falls National park where he worked as a driver it was during this time that he picked interest in learning about birds of Murchison Falls and its surrounding where he started following and joining birder’s whenever possible, his willingness characters to learn and having grown up in a village that was adjacent to the national park his passion for wildlife shaped him, with his experience and knowledge, positive attitude and easy way earned him an opportunity when he started working with various Tour companies in Entebbe Later he was employed in remote Nkuringo the south-western sector in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park where he was doing pick up transfers for the Fly in Gorilla tracking Tourists to Bwindi and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park while in Bwindi, Wilfred used all the opportunities available to learn forest endemic birds . He has attended Nature Guiding Training in Lake Mburo National Park organised by Uganda Safari Guide Association (USAGA). His interest in Birds made him nicknamed Wilfred the birder. He speak English and so many other local languages. He attended driving school in Kampala has excellent driving and mechanic skills

 

PETER UWIRAGYE (Senior Bird Guide Specialist for Rwanda)

African Birding JourneysPeter was born and raised in Rwanda, he live in Kigali the cleanest city in East Africa, Peter went to G.S Indangaburezi school, he studied Hospitality and Tourism Management at Cornell University his excellent Customer Care and client handling skills has earned him a name he has been seen featuring on various national and international Television in talk show Talking about Tourism and Guiding in Rwanda, He is a well-known Guide in Rwanda and has earned himself a name known by many as Kagame’s Guide after leading and Guiding Rwandan President Paul Kagame on all his tours across Rwanda’s Tourism Destinations  , He has attended both Nature Guiding, Defensive driving 4×4 Wheel, Birding courses from Uganda Safari Guides Association. He has led and guided very many high profile people, he is a member of Rwanda Safari Guides Association (RWASAGA), Uganda Safari Guide Association (USAGA). Peter is a number one choice for Rwanda safaris he has the entire Rwanda at fingertip. During his free time, Peter is very active and sporty and often goes swimming, biking or training at gym. He speaks English fluently as well as French and Swahili.

 

DAVID JULIUS SAIMON ‘ANTARES’ (Tanzania Safari Guide Specialist)

African Birding JourneysDavid as He is known by many as Antares was born on 12-02-1995 in Ambureni Arusha Tanzania, David attended school at Kimandolu primary and secondary school. His love for wildlife came at young age having grown from Arusha the Tourism city of Tanzania nurtured him. He attained his diploma in Tour Guiding & leadership. David is one of those few youthful Guides in Tanzania that has proved, his excellent customer care and client handling, the best spotting skills, and paying attention to every detail in company with clients has made the return visitors to Tanzania, He worked in Serengeti National Park as Balloon Safari expert, the wildlife rich area in Africa where he gained skills in wildlife behaviours, camp management, Nature Guided walking etiques, He has rich knowledge and has explored extensively all the National parks in Tanzania, his excellent driving skills for 4×4 on the rough roads of Africa, He loves music he is also a local artist in Tanzania and practices music during he goes out to learn more about African wildlife even when is not on safari. He speak English and Swahili.
